Voting this Week
There will be voting in the building this Tuesday. Please be extra vigilant watching the kids. We will be asking some of you to sit by the bathrooms on your off hour as extra precaution. We will not be able to use the gym for PE class. We will be taking the K-6th grade kids to the auditorium to introduce the spring musical to them. We will need the PE teachers with the kids in the auditorium.

Parents and children under 2 are free, but do not receive a pumpkin. RSVP HERE to Sheryl Crain so they can plan for your family.
Crystal Bridges
Museum of American Art
Northwest Arkansas
Thursday, April 10, 2014 - In order for Dianne Waterhouse to get this field trip on the Museum's calendar, we must apply NOW. This date is tentative until we know we are on their calendar. We have to have more than 35 people to have an official school tour. Saying yes now does not commit you, but it gives them and us an idea of the numbers. The tour is for grades K-12. Preschool children are not allowed in the museum until opening time. You can wait with your young children in a waiting room until the tour finishes, and then your family can revisit the museum together.
The cost is FREE. The tour would include a 1.5 hour guided tour of the museum, sack lunch for each person on the tour, and the remainder of the day to revisit the museum and browse the 3.5 miles of trails. In addition, anyone needing assistance with gas, the museum offers that also, so let Dianne know.
If you haven't been to Crystal Bridges, it is a great trip with your kids. The grounds and architecture are as beautiful as the art inside the museum.
RSVP HERE if you believe that you can go on this trip.

We're All In This Together
We had a great time this morning at the moms' breakfast. If you weren't there, we missed you. One of the biggest take aways of the morning for me was all of our need for real and transparent community. I know that I am not Wonderwoman (I have a messy house, forget to wake my kids up because I am on the internet, hate to grade math assignments, and get frustrated with my whole family when they don't do exactly what my mind thinks they should!). Sometimes I can look at my failures and get discouraged- thinking that everyone else is Wonderwoman or at least close. I know that this is a lie from Satan. He wants us to be discouraged and alone. Let us strive to build a place where we can share ourselves with each other. I believe that as we share more and more, we will become encouraged and know that we are NOT alone. God has made us for community. He has made us to share our lives with each other so that HE will be glorified more and more. So, my challenge for us this Tuesday is to speak to someone and share yourself. We will all be blessed.
Highschool Retreat
This is going to be a great event. Please bring a sack lunch to the retreat. Dinner will be provided.
Noon
The back doors will be locked from noon on. Please be on time. Last week people missed announcements because they opened the door from 12:00-12:15 letting people in. Starting this Tuesday, no one will be at the door to open it during announcements. We will come and let in those that are late after announcements.
Gym, Kitchen and Walk-In
Please remember that the gym is a classroom. The moms and dads that teach PE are amazing. I believe that they have the hardest job at co-op. It is difficult to gain 36 kids attention at the same time anywhere, but it is especially difficult in a gym. Then when you add visiting moms at the end near the walk-in or at the kitchen counter it is more difficult. Let's try to get in and out of the gym as quickly and quietly as possible. We want you to visit, but just not in the gym.
Fire drill
We will have a fire drill this Tuesday. We will send an email out on Monday letting you know the procedure. Please speak to your kids about this so they are not surprised or nervous.
Save the Date
The Gunter Farm field trip is scheduled for October 24th. See Sheryl Crain for more details to come.
The Coffee Sitch
Coffee is not provided by LHE or the church...coffee is provided by YOU. Please pay for your coffee if you choose to drink it by placing $1 in the brown canister near the coffee maker in the foyer.
This month's coffee service will be a trial basis, hopefully it will work out great! If you have any questions on how to use the Keurig machine or if you'd like to donate toward the coffee cause, please contact Sarah Bradford-Burton. (A breakdown of coffee costs will be placed near the coffee maker if you'd like to know what's in your cup!)

First Day Accomplished!
Wow. You all are awesome! You navigated the first day of co-op with ease. Some of you learned why I am not a professional spreadsheet maker. Sorry that I overbooked some of you! We have just a couple reminders that we believe are important in order to help co-op run smoothly.
1. Please sit with your assigned class. If you do not remember where you are to sit, it will be posted on the doors to the auditorium. Also, please stay with your class until they are dismissed. We don't want to leave a class on their pew by themselves until we know that they are lined up with their coordinator.
2. Elementary children need to be escorted to the bathrooms. I know that it is uncomfortable for some of us to go into a men's restroom, but we must. Bathrooms are a haven for craziness. We need to help keep paper towels out of urinals, doors from being locked from the inside, and kids' privacy intact.
3. An email will be sent with the parent schedule spreadsheet on Sunday or Monday.
Coffee Coup!
Little did we know how great the desire for coffee at co-op was! Here is the deal. LHE is not providing coffee this year. There are several reasons for this: cost, clean up, using the churches stuff on accident, and storage. But we do have an idea for you coffee lovers. If someone would like to bring and set up a keurig type machine each week in the kitchen and sell coffee made in those little cups, that would be fine. We are not opposed to this being a money making venture for someone. If you are interested in doing this, please talk to Becca. We only would want one person doing this, there is already someone considering it.
Last Day to Order T-shirts and Sign up for Retreat
This Tuesday is the last day to order t-shirts and sign up for the high school retreat. Please make your way to the tables in the foyer and turn in your forms.
Mom's Breakfast
You are invited to Becca Smith's house for a potluck breakfast. Yes, it is Bring Your Own Food! I will make quiche and have juice, but would like you to bring something to share. We will spend a few hours enjoying getting to know each other better. Please RSVP.
2 Liter Bottles Needed
The Earth Science class is
needing 10, clear,
2 liter bottles by Sept. 25.
If you have some,
please drop them off in the box
near the walk-in.

Co-op Starts This Tuesday!
We have been waiting since the end of May for September 10. The summer break is always nice, but the routine of seeing friends weekly is fantastic. We are anticipating a great year at LHE. There will be more of us than ever. That brings exciting new opportunities and also the possibility of someone (child or adult) feeling lonely in a crowd. I am praying that the Lord will give each of us eyes to truly see each other and the courage to authentically connect to those around us. God has given it all for us, let us also give to each other. This year is going to be the best, yet!
Things to Remember for Tuesday
1. Co-op begins at noon. Please sit with your assigned class for announcements. If you have were not at the last meeting or have forgotten your assignment, they will be posted on the glass door leading into the auditorium. It is important that the kids have adults with them during announcements.
2. Please wear your name tag while at co-op. On the back of the name tag there is a time schedule. It is very helpful. If you see someone without a name tag there is a good chance that they are a visitor to East Sunshine. Please take the initiative to ask them if they need help. You can then offer to walk them to the church office or find Becca to help them.
3. Keren will be sending out the 7-12th grade class schedules and room numbers. There will be signs on all of the doors stating what classes are in that particular room.
4. If you feel lost or have questions, please ask someone! We don't want anyone feeling out of the loop on what is happening.
5. Please remember to bring napping things for your preschoolers. The children always prefer to have their own blanket, stuffed animal, or pillow from home.
6. Please pray for a great year. Pray that Jesus is glorified at LHE, and that we will all be made more and more into His likeness.
LHE T-shirts
The Student Council will be selling LHE t-shirts this year. They will be taking orders the first 2 weeks of co-op. They will use the money to help fund their service projects and activities for the year. Look for the table in the foyer. Shirts are $10-$12 depending on the cut of the shirt. Last day to order shirts is 9/17.
High School Retreat Sign-up
The high school retreat will be Monday, September 30. We would love for every high schooler to attend. The cost is $25 per student. The day will be filled with service, fun, and worship. Permission slip and Leadership Ranch Liability Waiver must be returned by September 17. Pick up a retreat packet from the table in the foyer.
Branson Space Shuttle Exhibit
Sarah Burton is putting together a field trip to the Space Shuttle Exhibit the last week of September. Please contact her if you are interested in joining her. More details to come later. sarah@blogguidebook.com

7-12th Grade Meet and Greet
Last minute notice! Tuesday night during the meeting, the 7-12th graders are welcome to come and hang out in the gym during the meeting. Deron Smith and Greg Pickert will be supervising. If you are new this year, this could be a great time for your student to meet some new friends before co-op begins. If you have been here a while, this could be a great time to see old friends and make some new ones!
Girls bring a snack and guys bring a drink to share.

Tuesday Night Meeting
We are ready to see all of you! Summer is great, but I and my girls have missed being with you all.
If you have a child not yet in school or if you are working in a nursery-preschool class, we would like for you to be there at 6:30. I will send an email out to remind everyone who is scheduled for helping/teaching in the preschool classes.
For everyone else, we would like for you to be there at 7:00.
We will meet in the Fireside Room. Drive to the back of the church building. We will enter the door that is just the the west of the playground. The meeting will last until 9. We have found that it is best not to bring children (except your 7-12th graders for the mixer).
We will not provide child care.
Supplies and Copies
Please bring to the meeting any supply requests that you will need for the month of September and any copies that you need made for the first day of class. The supply/copy request folders will be out at the meeting. If you have questions about this, please email us and ask.
If you are a school supply junkie and you would like to donate glue sticks to LHE, we would love some. We will have a box set out to collect as many glue sticks as you want to bring!

If you haven't already had your picture made for the handbook, be prepared! We will be taking photos of people at the meeting. We want everyone's photo in the handbook, so that everyone can recognize each other more quickly.
The starting time has not yet been decided for the meeting. We will let you know soon. We do know that it will be in the evening somewhere between the hours of 6:30-9:30. We have found that it is best for children to not attend. These meetings can be long with lots of talking. We will not provide childcare.

June 14, 2013 Announcements
This Tuesday is our first of 2 summer meetings. Remember that we need everyone to attend one of these.
June 18- 6:30 in the fireside room (back door just to the east of the playground)
July 23- 6:30 in the fireside room
We have found that it is best for people to not bring their kids. These meetings can be a bit long. Child care is not provided, but cookies and coffee are!
I am hoping that I have attached to this email a parent schedule for next year. Almost everyone is scheduled for 3 hours. I tried to put everyone in 2 hours that they requested and then tried to get close with the 3rd hour. Please look for your schedule on this spreadsheet. My goal was to eliminate the need for the scheduling station on Tuesday night. That line has always taken so long. I know eliminating this station is not possible, but at least, hopefully, not very many of you will have to wait in that line! If you are unable to be in one of the classes that I have placed you in because of a medical reason, please let me know at whichever Tuesday meeting you will be at. If you are not scheduled for 3 hours, yet, come see me at the scheduling table.
We will have several new families at these meetings. We want them to know that they are welcome. Please sit by someone that you do not know!

The Lighthouse Christian Athletics program is now enrolling for the mascot cheer squad. The program is designed for girls ages 6-12. The mascots learn chants, cheers and a short dance. They cheer for one quarter and perform during halftime of the J H and Varsity home football games. If your daughter is interested in participating, please visit the Chargers website to enroll online. www.lcachargers.com
Students must enroll by July 15th to allow for uniform delivery prior to the pep rally.
The cost for the program varies depending on each girl's uniform needs. A minimum fee of $25.00 will be assessed to cover pep rally treats, CD duplication, cheer notebooks and practice site rental fees. For those new to the program needing an entire uniform, the maximum fee will be $85. All fees will be paid to the coaches at the parent meeting in July.
Please watch for information regarding a mandatory parent/child meeting when enrollment closes in July. A calendar will be presented and uniform fittings will occur during the meeting.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact one of the mascot coaches.
